ART EXHIBITIONS IN SHEPWAY
Showing now: Georges House Gallery is delighted to announce the extension of Observance, an exhibition by Nicola Dove for an extra week. Observance is a series of long exposure photographic portraits of people from a wide spectrum of faiths in a meditative state of prayer. The work explores whether this internal, spiritual experience can be recorded and communicated to an audience via a photographic medium. The images are accompanied by a soundscape made from recordings of the sitters. www.strangecargo.org.uk
Friday 5th, 6 – 8pm (introduction at 6.30pm): Exhibition of The Tower Theatre Competition at The Grand, The Leas, Folkestone. Folkestone Creative magazine sponsored a competition in December and invited local artists to paint The Tower Theatre. First prize was £100 and went to Janine Umbers. Janine’s painting was featured as the cover of Folkestone Creative. In the youth section three students from the Folkestone Academy won two tickets each for their winning paintings. All the entries will be on display. Tickets £5 per person.
The exhibition continues through to the 28th February – free entry.
