Dear Friends in Music,

Please find a flyer attached for the concert by Duo Isaria – Rebekka Hartmann (violin) and Caroline Bergius (piano) – in St Leonard’s Church on Saturday 24 September when their programme will include works by Mozart, Schumann and André Previn.

Rebekka was born in Munich in 1981 and has won national and international prizes during her career. In January she toured South Africa where her rendering of the Bruch Violin Concerto was highly acclaimed. Future engagements include a tour of China with the Glazunov Violin Concerto. Naxos has recently recorded her new CD The Birth of the Violin, featuring rare solo works by Geminiani, Biber and Guillemain. She plays on an Antonio Stradivarius violin from the year 1675.

Caroline was born in Dunoon, Argyll, began playing the piano at the age of seven, and later studied at Trinity College of Music in London, the Hochschule für Musik in Munich, and the Paris Conservatoire. She specialises in chamber music courses for young instrumentalists between the ages of six and 18 in Germany and on the Isle of Berneray, Outer Hebrides. Rebekka Hartmann often took part in these as a child.

We welcome back the Duo who have performed previously in Hythe.

You may like to know that BBC South East Today will carry a feature on the 2011 Folkestone Triennial in their programme at 6.30pm on BBC 1 on Friday 24 June.

To celebrate the Triennial’s opening weekend there will be Choral Evensong at church on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June both at 3.15 sung by the Chapel Choir of Dover College directed by Paul Young on Saturday and Sedecim directed by Jackie Spencer on Sunday - fresh from their spring trip to sing in Vienna.

Our next Sunday concert will be on 10 July and will be given by Tom Radford, current Creative Foundation Scholarship holder. 3 pm Sunday 10 July.
