November is fast approaching and with it brings a huge comedy show with Jack Dee plus the Folkestone Book Festival with guests such as Nicholas Parsons, Barry Cryer and Sir Max Hastings.

Folkestone Book Festival

Friday 4th November - Saturday 12th November 2011

This year’s Folkestone Book Festival welcomes a number of outstanding guests including Sir Max Hastings, Andy Kershaw, Barry Cryer, Francine Stock, Nicholas Parsons, Francis Pryor and Johnny Ball along with film screenings, theatre performances, live music, quiz nights, walks, workshops and comedy nights. Folkestone Decorative & Fine Arts Society (FDFAS)

For our last lecture Hilary Williams led us through the marvelous and eclectic works known as the Frick Collection New York, the mansion and collection bequethed to the public by its founder Henry Clay Frick.

Our next meeting is onThursday 27 October at 2.30pm, “Music inspired by paintings, paintings inspired by music” by Peter Medhurst. Spanning 600 years and linking together a range of key works from the visual and aural arts. Meetings are held at The Tower Theatre, North Road, Shorncliffe. Visitors are welcome at £5. This Youth Section production promises to be one of the best and funniest plays they have presented recently.Goldilocks is on trial for breaking and entering.

Will she be found guilty and sent to prison, or will the truth come out? It’s up to Judge Wallabee and some very silly jurors to decide, after hearing testimony from Goldee, the bickering Three Bears, and surprise witness Merwin the Big Bad Wolf, among others…

Actor’s Touring Company presents The Golden Dragon

We are very excited to be part of the UK premiere tour of Germany’s most lauded and performed new play, in co-production with ATC and The Drum Theatre, Plymouth.

Ramin Gray, directs this theatrical tale of modern life and migration, peppered with moments of humour and tragedy in the ubiquitous setting of the local far east takeaway.

Roland Schimmelpfennig is Germany’s hottest contemporary playwright. Previous work performed in the UK includes Ramin Gray’s production of Push Up at The Royal Court Theatre.
