Folkestone Library to re-open its doors
Folkestone Library will re-open its doors on Monday 23 August, following refurbishment works and replacement of the heating system.
A selection of new books, an improved layout and a bigger children’s section including computers are some of the changes that have been made.
Work has also been carried out to make the building easier to use and more welcoming with new display shelves and modern furniture and décor to create a bright atmosphere. As part of the refurbishment, the old heating system has been replaced with a more energy efficient and reliable one.
The smaller, temporary library that has been operating at The Cube in Tontine Street, Folkestone, will close on Friday 6 August so preparations can be made for reopening the main library building.
Nearby Cheriton and Wood Avenue libraries have been offering longer opening hours during the closure period and these will continue until 23 August.
Kent County Council Head of Libraries, Cath Anley said:
“It’s very important that libraries are easy to use, well–equipped and welcoming, so that residents and communities can make the most of the services they offer. This refurbishment project has made a big difference.”
